Requirements to complete the Program:

  • Attend or participate in 10 events, exhibits, museums, performances, or research projects during the South Africa & Kentucky theme year, 2010-2011.
  • Critically engage with each event through your choice of writing, artistic response (a photographic essay, short story, play, artistic performance, visual art project, or graphic design), or another kind of approved project (such as recruiting fellow students to attend individual events).
  • Participate in at least one evening of pizza, film, and discussion per semester with other students in the Program.

Benefits:

  • Gain an item for your resumé that demonstrates your interest in and knowledge of international themes.
  • Become eligible to apply for a scholarship for an Education Abroad trip to South Africa next Summer 2011. The trip will offer 3 internship credits for working with local non-profit organizations and 3 seminar credits for a class in South African culture.
  • Discover common interests with a diversity of students.
  • Receive personalized attention from faculty members and have lunch with special guests from South Africa, including prominent anti-apartheid activist Eddie Daniels.
